The terms like Psychotherapist and Psychiatrist are often used interchangeably to describe anyone who provides mental therapy services to their clients. The most significant difference lies between the educational backgrounds required for each profession. To become a psychotherapist one has to earn a doctoral-level degree in psychology. To become a qualified psychiatrist, one has to attend medical school and receive an M.D degree.
